PSHE Intent Statement
PSHE helps us understand the importance of a healthy physical and mental lifestyle and how to build healthy relationships.
At St Joseph's, we believe that all of our children are entitled to a broad and balanced PSHE curriculum, regardless of ethnic origin, gender, class, aptitude or disability. We are concerned with the education of the whole child and their development as confident, tolerant, informed, responsible and caring citizens of society.
PSHE is designed to support pupils’ understanding of social, moral and cultural issues as they grow up. Our pupils are given opportunities to learn about their rights and responsibilities, and are also encouraged to develop a sense of self-worth. This helps them to play a positive role in their school life and appreciate their wider, diverse community.
Our PSHE curriculum enables our pupils to develop their understanding of health, relationships, safety and social issues. Lessons and discussions allow pupils to develop personal qualities such as resilience, responsibility and well-being. Our aim is to help pupils become happier and healthier individuals.
